Description
The olive tree is the tree of the South above all others, timeless and calm, planted to last for generations. This cotton placemat green and yellow keeps its spirit: olive branches drawn with restraint, in a tender green lifted with golden yellow, like late-afternoon light caught on the leaves.
Each piece is hand block-printed on good-quality cotton, in the artisan workshops of our partners in India, where block printing is a craft handed down through generations. Every impression carries the small variations of the gesture, the mark of a genuinely handmade textile rather than an industrial print. The design is created in France, in the natural, Mediterranean spirit dear to the house.
A placemat dresses without covering. Laid on bare wood, it echoes the timber and gives each guest a place of their own. Over a white or natural tablecloth, it adds a calm square of colour that structures the setting.
Outdoors, on a garden table in the shade, it comes fully into its own on long summer lunches. Stacked in a drawer, it is ready in seconds.
This cotton placemat green and yellow is made for real use. The cotton is hard-wearing and machine washable, it grows softer with time while keeping its colour, and it takes shared dishes and long meals without fuss. Washed at thirty degrees and ironed while still slightly damp, it keeps its shape and its quiet glow.
It works especially well with stoneware, olive wood, linen and natural tones, and needs very little around it. You can pair it with the matching Olive Tree napkins and tablecloth.
Left alone on a wooden table, it needs nothing more than a few glasses and a branch of olive.
An artisanal, peaceful and hard-wearing piece of table linen, for anyone who likes tables that speak of new olive oil and lunches under the trees.
